THE REFILLERY OPENS IN GOREY!

Hi everyone, Clare here from The Refillery Eco Store in Gorey. This is my first blog post and I hope to use it to give you a short little introduction to what we do and how we got here.

Myself and my husband Don opened The Refillery doors on the 2nd of April after a year of hard work.
The idea for the Refillery came about during the first Covid-19 lockdown. Don and I, having worked for over 25 years in a food packaging company, had seen first-hand the amount of packaging one company can produce, it is pretty shocking and was primarily single use too.

We have seen changes in the last few years especially in people’s mindset and their awareness of the impact that single use plastics have on our environment. Through my own wish to change to a more sustainable way of living and being frustrated at not having the opportunity to shop this way locally, I could see a need and an opportunity to start up a Refill shop in Gorey, the first of its kind in Co Wexford.

At The Refillery we sell superior, sustainable, eco-Friendly, and Organic products that have the lowest impact on our planet. We also believe that bringing this type of business to Gorey will inspire and help people adapt towards an eco-friendly, minimal or zero waste lifestyle. We stock many pantry staples as well as household cleaning and body care products, all plastic free, Palm oil free, cruelty free which cuts out packaging waste with the added benefit of reducing people’s food waste by only buying what they need.

We source all our products from Irish suppliers and producers, supporting as many local small businesses as possible along the way. This is in all our best interests as it keeps our carbon footprint low and benefits the local economy immensely.

Everyone deserves to be able to make environmentally friendly choices both conveniently and affordably. We want to help make sustainable shopping the norm. If everyone made only one small change in their shopping choices, we would be one step closer to a better future for all of us.

We hope to do more blog posts that will help in some way to providing people with the ways and means of becoming more sustainable by just making small changes that will have a massive positive impact on the environment and themselves.

Thanks for reading.

There are so many innovative, sustainable alternatives out there now, and some have been around for years. We need to get back to basics just like our parents and grandparents did. Eco Refill shops and health stores are at the forefront of this and will always be the first to showcase new sustainable products. They are evolving all the time.

So, this month, make one small change, try a wooden toothbrush, Buy a loaf of bread wrapped in waxed paper, Buy a reusable coffee cup or water bottle and try not to buy plastic. It’s harder than you think.

Thanks for Reading,
