Culture Night: Screening of “Cold War” in association with Gorey.pl
Gorey.PL – Polish Cultural Association and Gorey School of Art are inviting to Polish Film „ “Cold War” with English Subtitles & Display of vintage movie projectors.
Culture Night 2019
Cold War is the work of Paweł Pawlikowski – an Oscar winner for the film “Ida”. The world premiere of the film took place during the 71st Cannes Film Festival. The first screening aroused the euphoria of the audience, bringing tears of emotion to Julianne Moore, congratulations from Benicio del Toro and a 20-minute standing ovation.
The film got a number of very positive reviews, and was compared to “La La Land”, “Casablanca” and movie hits by Martin Scorsese. The crowning achievement of the film’s successes at the most important film event in the world was the award for the best director given to Paweł Pawlikowski. “Cold War” tells the story of the difficult love of two people who cannot live without each other, but at the same time cannot be together. They are played by Tomasz Kot and Joanna Kulig, who are supported by Agata Kulesza and Borys Szyc.
The events shown in the Cold War take place in
the 1950s and 1960s in Poland and Europe, which is coming to life, and in their background there is a unique soundtrack, which is a combination of Polish folk music with jazz and songs of Parisian bars of the last
The film screening will be preceded by an exhibition of Vintage Film Projectors from the twentieth century collected by our local passionate Rafal Rozworski. Before the movie, it will be possible to meet with Rafal and ask him questions about his passion.
