Wexford Walking Trails Festival 2019

Festival dates: Friday September 21st – Sunday September 22nd.

This year’s Wexford Walking Trail festival will highlight some of our higher walks – giving you wonderful views over the entire county on some of our more strenuous, but still very manageable trails.

There is no charge for any of these walks. There will be a donation box at each location and the proceeds will help defray our ongoing costs. Wexford Walking Trail appreciates your continued support.

We hope you enjoy what we have planned for this weekend and remember, this is just a flavour of Wexford and its trails. The festival will feature four trails this year:-

FRIDAY 20th: Cullentra Trail, Kiltealy.
Launching the Wexford Walking Festival Weekend.
Please bring a torch.

7.00pm – Registration
Meeting Point: The Thatch Pub, Kiltealy. (Y21 AX53)

6.30pm – 7.30pm enjoy exhibits in the Stable Yard. Meet with our local artists and crafts people, sample local honey from the Blackstairs Beekeepers, taste some local baking, read about the history of our area and more.

7.30pm – 9.00pm – Cullentra Trail Walk
Level of difficulty: moderate
Length of walk: 7.5km

9.30pm – Reception and Festival Launch by Billy Byrne, Tourism Officer, Wexford County Council.
Venue: The Thatch Pub, Kiltealy

SATURDAY 21st: Coolmelagh Gibbet Hill Trail. A talk on the history of the hill will be delivered by Dr Kevin Whelan at the summit.

10.30am – Registration
Meeting Point: Carpark on the Bunclody/Carnew road 6km from Bunclody (Sat Nav: 52.686, -6.580).
Level of difficulty: moderate
Length of walk: 8 km

1.30pm: Lunch provided for walkers in Askamore Community Centre(Y25 F6D8

SATURDAY 21st: Walk Askamore Slieveboy Loop

2.30pm – Registration
Meeting Point: Askamore Community Centre (Y25 F6D8)
Level of difficulty: moderate
Length of walk: 12km

Saturday 21st at 7.30pm: – Festival Dinner in The Courtyard, Ferns. All Welcome. Please confirm your attendance by Monday September 16th.

Sunday 22nd: Carrickbyrne Hill

11.00am – Registration
Meeting Point: Car Park /Picnic Area just off the N25, 13km from New Ross SAT NAV: 52.368, -6.781
Level of difficulty: Moderate
Length of walk: 5.5km
Bring a picnic to enjoy afterwards in the picnic area at the foot of the hill (weather permitting)
