Following on from the successful Gorey May Bush Féile 2018, Ceol Mo Chroí is looking forward to the upcoming Féile 2019 in conjunction with Gorey 400 celebrations.
As part of the Gorey May Bush Féile, local traditional singer Rachel Uí Fhaoláin will host FREE Traditional Singing/May Bush Decoration Workshops in Gorey Library on Wednesday April 17 and April 27 @ 2pm – 4pm.
Traditional songs
During the workshops, everyone will have the opportunity to sing some simple traditional songs especially written by Rachel and the children of the Ceol Mo Chroí Traditional Singing Club in which they explain the May Bush tradition. You will also make your own decorations.
Traditionally, the May Bush was erected on the eve of May Day and decorated with egg shells, rags/ribbons, flowers and candles. All craft material will be provided at the workshops but feel free to bring your own decorations too.
Decorations
The group will also visit the Gorey May Bush beside the Library and get an opportunity to decorate it – and maybe even sing a song or two around it.
The ornamental Hawthorn tree (May Bush) was planted last year as part of The Gorey May Bush Féile and is there for everyone to decorate and enjoy for years to come.
Booking is required as places will be limited.
