The Gorey Parade commences at 3pm on St Patrick’s Day and all entries into the parade will be staging on the new link road from the Carnew Road, Hollyfort Road and Fort Road.
There are no road closures but diversions will be in place whilst the parade is moving down past The Monument, McCurtain Street, Main Street and dispersing after the Review Stand on Esmonde Street.
The Parade will be led by the wonderful and hard working committee representing The Friends of Gorey District Hospital who were selected for this honour. In special recognition of their 20th anniversary we are delighted to have them at the helm of the 2017 parade.
There are 15 prizes to be awarded for the best entries that will be judged by those on the Review Stand. Prize giving will be immediately after the parade on the Review Stand.
Also announced will be Shop Window Competition and the windows will be judged in the morning of St Patrick’s Day. All local businesses are encouraged to go green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
There will be a strong musical presence during this year’s parade with Gorey Pipe Band, Tallaght Vikings Youth Band, Sonna Samba, Bloco Gorman, St Kevin’s Band & Brazilian Group Maracatu Alcateia.
New entrants from the Gorey BMX Club. Shine Bright Theatre and a vintage entry from Wicklow transporting a newly married couple the day after their wedding in the Amber Springs Hotel.
We are delighted to welcome back our many sporting groups showing the great range of facilities in Gorey and the surrounding areas. Plenty of local businesses will be represented on the day.
Community groups like the Gorey Polish Community and Ferns CCE are expected to follow on from their award winning entries of last year. We also expect a few UFO’s to turn up in Gorey on the day.
Stewards are needed to help out on the day and please contact us on our Facebook page Gorey St Patrick’s Day Parade or call into Halfords Main Street.
