As a proud Gorey resident I was delighted to be asked for my shop local recommendations by Love Gorey. It’s a great little town with a fantastic festive spirit, there’s Christmas music piped through loudspeakers on the street for the season and the Christmas lights are absolutely magical.

There really is no need to travel any further than Gorey for your shopping this Christmas, you can get gifts for anyone that you can think of right here in the town. In fact, people should be flocking here from far and wide!

And you wouldn’t know who you’d meet around the streets while shopping in Gorey, last week the Grinch’s appearance made the front page of The Gorey Guardian and there might be some another strange characters over the coming weeks 😉

Gorey really has something for everyone all year around not just at Christmas! Here are some of my shopping tips

For the Kids
Munchkins have a variety of beautiful toys that feed kids’ imaginations, Baileys Toymaster have more toys that you can imagine, and Art and Hobby has lego and games aplenty. The town has two bike shops Gorey Cycle Centre on Esmonde St and Revolve Bike Shop. Stocking fillers from Dealz, The Works and Bookstation and you’re all set.

For your brother or Dad
Murt Walsh, Jack Dunne Menswear and Funges will have the gents kitted out in top style for Christmas with the hottest (and coolest!) brands and for something extra Morri and Kell are sure to have something that little bit extra.

For your sister or mum
Gorey genuinely has too many boutiques to mention from Sally West at the top of the town (they have the coolest standing umbrellas I have ever seen) down to La Creme on the bottom of Esmonde St, Wardrobe Plus on the Arklow Road and over to Lipstick and Bella Moda in the Shopping Centre. You can find everything from occasionwear to casual bits in the boutiques of Gorey. Tweed in the Valley have beautiful tweed covered bags for something a bit different.

For the foodie
Think about a voucher for one of the town’s many cafes or restaurants, or a takeaway, something to look forward to in the new Year. Myles Doyle has lovely foodie gifts as do Partridges, and consider a trip to the Wine Buff to see their offering.

For the dog (or cat)
Maxi Zoo in the Mill Retail Park or Pet Depot on Paul Funge Boulevard have a variety of pet paraphernalia to make your pooch feel spoiled this Christmas

For the impossible to buy for
Vouchers! You can buy Wexford Chamber vouchers in the Gorey Visitor Centre for lots of businesses around Gorey.

For the teenagers
Funges has a selection of brands like Eleven Degrees, Elverys for runners and sports gear. Phones and accessories from Smyth and Byrne or Compudoc would be a big hit. Gamestop in the Shopping Centre sell games and collectibles.

For the crafts lover
Check out the gorgeous local gifts at the pop up shop at Caroline Bergin Art on Esmonde St and in the Gorey Visitor Centre.

For the interiors enthusiast
Lily Bloom on Esmonde St has beautiful pieces that will add style to any home. You kind find a great range of decorative pieces and kitchen paraphernalia in House 2 Home and The Curtain and Bedlinen Store have lots of finishing touches.

For the sports fanatic
Sports gear from Sportsdirect or Elverys, vouchers for local fitness business like Sprint Fitness Studio and outdoor gear from Regatta will keep them happy.

For the family – animal experiences at Wells House cost 30 per family (in addition to entry) and Kia-Ora Farm sell gift vouchers for a day out.

For something very special
Gorey’s jewellers including Whitmores, Alders and McGuires have sparkling gifts to suit every budget.

Enjoy shopping in Gorey this Christmas, remember all your gifts can be bought locally and you can spend the time you saved on travel sipping a latte in one of the fabulous coffee shops in the town.
