5  day trips for this August Bank Holiday Weekend in North Wexford

We are all hoping for good weather this bank holiday weekend (We can’t help but feel we need/deserve some good news this year!!) So we have created a list of trips and excursions for this bank holiday with a backup plan of attractions close by should you have to revert to plan B!  Be sure to check each attraction before visiting as many have had to implement a prebooking option owing to COVID-19 restrictions!

Courtown Beach

The majority of Irish people living within a 3-hour radius of Wexford have more than likely visited this beach at some point in their lives! Courtown offers a great day out for families with all the essentials of a trip to the beach like seaside chips, a 99 and amusement arcades!
Should the rain kick in there’s great fun to be had at Pirate’s Cove, without a doubt the most impressive pirate-themed crazy golf course in Ireland, Courtown Woods could also provide shelter from the rain and you can explore this beautiful woodland and beside the woods is Seal Rescue Ireland, check out their website for booking details.

Morriscastle

The beautiful blue flag beach has received great attention in the media recently with the arrival of the new Glamping Pods in Morriscastle Strand Holiday Park. With plenty of golden sand, this beach is perfect for sandcastle making and swimming on a summer’s day!
Plan B here is a trip to Wells House and Gardens, located just minutes from the beach should the weather not work in your favour! There are two woodland trails adorned with fairies and the Gruffalo, not to mention a playground and gardens designed by the renowned landscaper and architect Daniel Robertson. Pre-booking is required on their website

Explore one of the great walks in North Wexford!

Wexford  Walking Trails is the perfect starting point to help you decide where to explore in North Wexford with scenic walking routes in villages such as Ferns, Askmore, Oulart, Courtown and Ramsfort to name a few! If it’s open air spaces you want to enjoy then North Wexford is the perfect spot for you!
Your Plan B option here is the award-winning Kia Ora Mini Farm located close by! Kia Ora Mini Farm is always a hit with so many animals, activities and their mini diggers are so much fun for young and old! Pre-booking is required on their website.

Castletown

Off the beaten track and away from crowds is the stunning beach at Castletown. This two-mile stretch of sand has Kilmichael Point to the north and Ballymoney to the south! Although not as sandy as some of the neighbouring beaches in North Wexford the views are beautiful, worth the drive through narrow roads for peace and quiet!
If the day is damp don’t be discouraged! Close by is the beautiful Wexford Lavender Farm with so many photo opportunities in the lavender fields and woodland walks! Even in the rain the beauty of the lavender and fresh scent through the air will bring a smile to your face! (Just pack wellies for the rain!)

We would love to see your visits here so please tag Love Gorey in your social media! Enjoy!
