North Wexford is known for its fabulous beaches, with miles of sand and fabulous coastline. Whether you want to hang out with your family or have a romantic stroll for two, or walk away the day’s woes, our beaches always deliver.

We’ve listed just three beaches here, but there are plenty more – all waiting for you to discover them!

Clones Strand

North of Gorey and near Castletown, Clones Strand is a two-mile stretch of sand, south of Kilpatrick beach and north of Ballymoney. Kilpatrick Beach itself is nicely sheltered and renowned for its rare sea shells and unusual sea stones and pebbles. Walking south, you can take in views of the stunning landscape along the gentle curve of the coastline.

Ballymoney

Ballymoney has been a firm favourite for generations of visitors to North Wexford. With two beaches, you’re spoilt for choice. The south beach is just next to the car park, so it’s an easier option for anyone with buggies. A smaller beach with shelter, it’s a lovely spot to chill out and with a shop in the car park open during the summer, you’re never too far from your next ice cream.

The North Beach is accessed via a well-used path across the rocks. A longer beach, it’s sandier than the South Beach and a lovely oasis from the busyness of the everyday.

Roney Point

Roney Point is located just south of Courtown and Riverchapel and leads you south to Donaghmore beach. More stony than other Wexford beaches, it’s still very sheltered and an opportunity to get a quiet stroll in, compared to North Wexford’s other busier beaches.

If you’re lucky, you’ll spot seals on a small little island a short distance from the coastline!

Old Bawn Beach, Cahore

This beach is situated just a few kilometres from Ballygarrett village on the coast road. You’ll appreciate how popular it is when you see the miles of golden sand. You can walk for miles, including heading south to the adjoining beaches of Ballinoulart and Morriscastle. This beach is well sheltered by grassy sand dunes which play host to a wide range of wildlife. Famous as well for its fishing, this is a beach you will revisit!

Morriscastle

Located near the village of Kilmuckridge, Morriscastle beach is known as the ‘Golden Mile’ – and you will see why! In a natural bay, it extends for three miles of wonderful golden sandy stretches.

The beach has plenty of shelter, thanks to grassy sand dunes and is famous for its fishing. There are also amenities such as parking and public toilets (including facilities for the disabled). Popular with shore anglers and swimmers, it’s a joy any time of the day or any day of the year.
