Above Gorey’s Main St is the must-visit restaurant that is one of the most talked about restaurants in Gorey! Owner and head chef Andrew Duncan began his career at the age of 16 and has worked his way through the restaurant trade and gained valuable experience and inspiration having travelled and work in New Zeland, Canada & The UAE and in some of the finest Relais & Chateaux hotels & Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants.
A Gorey native Andrew has returned to his home town to open Table 41 and since opening in 2018 has gained an incredible reputation nationally and internationally. Having begun his career in Marlfield House and travelled it is wonderful to see Andrew return home. He is passionate about his ingredients and devoted to using the best local ingredients of the season with preparation and presentation the key focus with all his dishes.
Dinner guests to Table Forty One will enjoy a “fine dining” experience without the pretentiousness and formality normally associated with this standard of the restaurant without forfeiting the service and standard.
In the kitchen, Andrew is the only Chef on duty in the compact kitchen and his menu changes weekly to reflect the availability and freshness of the products used. On his social media, he can often be found foraging in local woods sourcing new ingredients to add to his menu!
The menu consists of 4 starters & 4 main courses alongside some specials such as Our Signature Local Macamore Buffalo Fillet Steaks & Irish Hereford Fillet Steaks with Smoked Bacon Jam & Portobello Mushroom. The wine list is, without doubt, one of the finest available in Wexford!
In 2021 Andrew was awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand status for the first time in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2021, with Andrew’s French onion tart which is served with goat’s cheese, walnuts, kale as well as the spice confit duck leg followed with the Baileys panna cotta with gingerbread!
During lockdown, Andrew wrote and published a Cookery Book based on his favourite dishes and this is available to purchase locally in Myles Doyle across the street from Table Table Forty One, a lovely gift we think a visit to Table Forty One is a must do when in Gorey!
