Back in 1957 when Jack Whitmore alongside his wife Bridie opened their family jewellers on the Main St in Gorey it would be hard to imagine the next 65 years.

Gorey was as always a busy market town but has since become one of Ireland’s most vibrant rural towns that continues to grow and retain the charm of the independent shops like Whitmore’s that gives Gorey it’s sense of identity and unique appeal that has also established Gorey as one of Ireland’s leading shopping destinations.

In 1988 Paschal and his wife Caroline took over the business working with Jack and Bridie and his siblings John, Brenda, Leonard, Lynda and Anna throughout the years and the business celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2007 with the opening of their second branch in Gorey’s Shopping Centre.  Keeping the family tradition alive Cathal, Ciaran and Deirdre and the next generation of Whitmore’s all involved in the various aspects of the business, helping the business meet the every changing challenges of modern day retail.

The Whitmore family set out an ambitious plan for 2022 with a new website, social media and a refurbishment of their Main St branch to provide a better retail experience for their customers that come from Co Wexford and Leinster owing to the reputation of customer service and industry knowledge.

The fundamentals of this family run business remain the same as they continue to source high quality fine jewellery, watches and giftware with their helpful staff happy to assist customers in their choice. They also provide a professional jewellery and watch repair & restoration service, battery and strap fitting, along with engraving and valuations.

Staff training is a key focus for Whitmore’s with staff completing a S.T.E.P course and education programme specific to retail jewellers nationwide.

They are also avid and active supports to the local community and town of Gorey, supporting local societies, field days, clubs & schools with financial donations and spot prizes!  They joined the Love Gorey Campaign and we were delighted to have Paschal feature in our Christmas videos where even Santa turned to the jeweller expert to help choose the perfect gift for Mrs Claus!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Whitmore family on their tremendous achievement of 65 years in business and being such a strong contributor to growing Gorey into the thriving town we all know and appreciate!

Well done to you all!
